Wine Maker
Our Winemaker-Dan Goldfield
After graduating with an M.S. in Enology from Davis in
1987, Dan went about developing and making wine from a number of new
vineyards in the colder reaches of the Sonoma Coast appellation that
had never seen vineyards before. Dan’s appreciation for new,
even experimental vineyards and his search for vineyards with unique
personalities earned him a reputation as a talented and innovative
winemaker.
After working with La Crema, Schramsberg, and Hartford
Court, Dan Goldfield and Steve Dutton launched Dutton-Goldfield in
1998, and have been producing excellent vineyard-designate wines.
Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are Dan’s specialties.
His wines are crafted using traditional techniques such as barrel and
malolactic fermentation for the Chardonnay and open top fermentation
for the Pinot Noir. His Stubbs Vineyard wines reflect the natural tendencies
of the area: substantial, elegant yet full wines that are complex and
well balanced.
We are indeed pleased to have Dan Goldfield on our team.
